😊 I've just released a major update to my Camera Match AutoSetup + GeoBuild scripts for 3ds Max, Blender and SketchUp. The headline feature this time is the deep Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles integration.
Here's what's new:
✅→ Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles — fetch real, 100% accurate textured 3D models of your location directly into the scene (free Google Cloud API key required). New fine-tuning controls let you dial in exactly what you need: Max Screen Space Error (lower = higher quality) and Max Tile Depth (higher = more detail) balance model detail against compute time.
✅→ GeoBuild + OpenStreetMap — import OSM data to retrieve building outlines, heights and names in seconds. Great for fast massing (note: ~5–10m offset, so Google tiles win on precision).
✅→ Crop Photo Tool — got a pre-cropped publication image with distortion? Pick a horizon, extend the frame, and recover an accurate match.
✅→ Scene Scale Calculator — read a real building's height, apply it to the VP box, and your system units update automatically so the scene matches the real world.
All of this builds on the core engine that already handles automatic vanishing-point detection, camera alignment, and the VP Verified Box for sanity-checking against real structures in the photo.
Available for 3ds Max, Blender and SketchUp (GeoBuild and Drone Site Builder aren't in SketchUp yet). Cinema 4D version in development.
What's the most painful part of your camera matching workflow? Curious where this saves people the most time. 👇
